My Steering wheel needs replacing.
Looks like the PO tried to use a puller to get it off but failed.
I guess punch the pin out and use a saw-zall to cut one side and use a wedge to open it up?
I don't have a torch.

I tried to use my 2 jaw and then a 3 jaw puller along with a good beating and heat.  Fought it well for a week and then decided I needed a proper bearing puller set.  Took all of 5 min to get it off with the proper tool.Thumbs Up

How does a bearing puller apply more force? They look to be near the same tool

3 WD45's with power steering,G,D15 fork lift,D19, W-Speed Patrol, "A" Gleaner with a 330 corn head,"66" combine,roto-baler, and lots of Snap Coupler implements to make them work for their keep.

I bought a 250.00 gear puller (a large one) and don't have any trouble pulling anything apart with that thing! LOL! It's a three jaw setup and worth every bit that I paid for it, too!   Rick

Take the pin out, then remove the pin from the steering wheel side of the universal joint down behind the frame,  Now you can remove the steering wheel with the shaft.  Now clamp a piece of pipe just big enough for the shaft to pass through, firmly, very firmly, in a vise.  Pull the shaft through and slam the wheel against the pipe and it should come off fairly easily.  Don't be a wimp on the first couple of slams.  A pipe vise or one with a pipe or round stock feature works best.

HOW do you get the pin out without a torch?  I know it is tapered.
