Welcome! I have replaced a couple of these on WD's. I took the sizes of the seals to local bearing and seal house and got new seals. Numbers are in one of my old threads.Sorry I don't have them at hand.
On one tractor the axle was worn pretty bad so I had it turned .060 under and got a seal to match. You may need bearings while your in there too. I Used KAMAN for those too. I am pretty sure some of the forum sponsors have all these items. You can try Brenda At Sandy Lake.

 Chris

Phil,
Probably three hard areas in this project.
(make sure the tractor is blocked up and secure!)
1. having puller plates made for removing the bearing races.
2. just fiddling with the snap ring on the axle shaft, up inside the housing.
3. getting the big outside bearing off the axle. Sometimes they are tight on there.

FYI: I need to do this on the WD45 in the drive way soon so I might have some pictures.
Regards,
 Chris

Hi Chris and thanks for the important safety info on tackling this job and I thought it would be easy,ah well Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is this WD,just an after thought where can I fill and check oil as I have a few small jobs to do with the tractor and wanted to make sure I keep an eye on the level in the final drive?

Part of me wonders if the seals and bearings/races on my rears don't need replaced... Any easy way to check without taking it apart?

Phil,
You can check the oil level by removing the small square head plug on the upper side of each lower drive cover. stick a curved wire in there, or just see if there is some when you open the plug. I think its 1/8 pipe plug? Remember these may not have been removed for 60+ years, so get a good tool to fit or you may round off the corners. I think a short 3/8 extension drive (reversed) may fit those and then wrench on that. If your not doing much work you will probably be fine. Heavy gear oil in there, just over a quart per side.

Garden guy,
The experts may be able to answer this better than me. I just moved my WD45 project tractor and checked the general movement of the wheel assembly by grabbing the top of the tire and pull/push. My findings were that there is a bunch of slop in mine. Will I get it all with new bearings???? Probably 50/50 chance. Shouldn't hurt, other than the wallet!

Regards,
 Chris

too many digits! I'm going to assume the last 'faint' digit is not a digit at all, which then make it 69485, and that would be a 1950 model
