Is it true that in order to replace the clutch on my WD I will need to pull the engine rather than splitting the tractor? I just got a WD service manual on a CD and that's what it sez to do. I was just wondering how accurate the CD was as opposed to a hard copy of the service manual. Thanks folks.

Pull the engine. Much easier than splitting a WD. Doesn't involve a lot of work once you get the steering shaft apart. This is a necessity unless you intend to remove right side rail. HTH God Bless.

Pulling the engine is a piece of cake. You may get by with just setting it up on the frame rails if you are creative.

Roll the engine so that the clutch housing will clear the frame and you can pull out the engine.  Funny,  I was doing this over 50 years ago and it does not change.
Good Luck!

Did you disconnect the steering shaft? I've found that with the right chain lift you can roll the engine enough to clear the steering shaft with just the lower shaft mount unbolted.

Does the CD talk about getting the crank out of the way?

You do not need to take the steering shaft out to pull the engine, it takes some creative manuvering but it can be done. (I have done it at least 10 times and I have yet to take a steering shaft apart) You do have to take the the steering shaft bering lose so the shaft will move twards the frame. I have never taken a frame rail lose, you do need to take the pin out of the crank so it will move out of the way. Good luck
