WD Carburetor Question

   As you all may remember, a couple months ago my girlfriend and I bought a pair of WDs to put back to work on our farm. Mine is an early 48 and hers is a 51. Both have Marvel Schebler carbs on them, but the carb on her 51 is much larger than the one on my 48. 
Was using the 51 to put out a couple round bales earlier and it started coughing and running rough, not surprising as it had sat for several years before we got it, and I knew it would eventually need some carb work. Started looking around for a number on it so I could get a kit ordered for it, and found that the tag is missing. Does anyone know of any other way to identify what carb I am dealing with here. Looks an awful lot like the carb used on a WD45 or an early D17, but want to make sure I order the right kit for it. Only other numbers I can find on it are 227 209 stamped in the flange where it bolts to the intake.

The carb in question is the same size body as a TSX-704 I have laying on the shelf in the shop if that helps narrow it down any. Not sure what the 704 even came off of, but thats an issue for another time

	A "generic" kit would have all the gaskets and o-rings that you need.. The SPECIFIC kit is only needed if you are getting JETS or NEEDLES..... a kit for the TSX374 or 704 should fit... This is the ORIGINAL carb that was on the WD..... yours is NOT original.. Edited by steve(ill) - 02 Apr 2025 at 10:28pm

	maybe ?????? .... have you used a mirror to look on the BACK SIDE of the carb for number ?

	. Exhaust markings on the manifold indicate the seals have deteriorated between the block and manifold. A seal kit for that is fairly inexpensive and can cause issues for air leaks. I bought a harbor freight small ultrasonic cleaner $80ish, and it's really improved several carbs. Better than a rebuild unless something is broken. Check the carb inlet screen for plugging and the glass bowl under the fuel tank. Sometimes corrosion chunks stop over the pipe into the tank. .

	Don't know what exact model that carb is, but a basic cheap kit for a WD-45/old D-17 will fit it. It is not a WD carb or WD manifold.
