Topic: WD battery cable questionPosted: 14 Jul 2016 at 8:58am |

Hello Guys - My WD is not starting up and I believe I need new cables, but wanted to run it by the pro's. The battery is newer and the charger said its ok, when I attach the charger to the cables it states "charging aborted-bad battery". The cable connectors are cracking,so I assume that is why I am not getting a spark?
I have had some sparking from the battery posts in the past along with replacing a starter twice in two years. Not sure this factors in but more the info the better. As always, thank you for lending the knowledge. |

You should never have sparking anywhere. All connections should be totally tight. First clean up all cable connections. Clean at both ends, including unbolting from the starter stud as well as the ground bolt on the frame. Clean the connections and terminals with a rotary brush attached to a drill motor. Everything should shine with a bright gleam when you are finished. Reconnect everything tightly and try it again. Report the results to us.

First thing you should do is draw test the Battery to insure the Battery is good first. Then do what Doug mentioned if the Battery passes the draw test. A bad Battery can cause the issues you are having also... HTH
