I need to replace the water pump on my WC. The new pump came with a paper gasket. My question is do I need to use any sealer when installing the gasket and pump, or do I just put it together dry? And if sealer is necessary, what should I use? Thanks.

#2 permatex non hardening gasket sealer works well. Permatex also makes a spefic sealer for antifreeze but I odn't think it's necessary.

Yup, #2 Permatex for when you really don't want to take it right back apart. Which is most of the time. 50 years from now, someone will think unkind thoughts about you as they are scraping it off Big smile

I could wonder if the maker/rebuilder of these pumps use any gasket sealer or if they do what kind?  I have had the rear cover leak on two of these new pumps, just after installation.
