Had similar problem with my WC. Ran it for a few minutes with valve cover off, and watched coolant seep up through rusted freeze plug and run down push rod galley. Replaced freeze plug and never had to pull head. Hope that helps... Dan

Hopefully its just a head gasket. Not a horrible job. There are other possibilities, but checking out any of them will mean pulling the head anyway, so start there. Spray some penetrating oil on all the fasteners (especially the manifold) and soak for a couple of days if possible, strip everything off of the head, pull the valve cover and remove the pushrods (mark what position they came from, 1-8 so they can go back). When you get the head off, hopefully you will find an obvious break in the gasket. If not, there are other things to explore, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it.
Good luck! Edited by HoughMade - 02 Oct 2017 at 3:22pm |
