after the pulls the other night I noticed something binding in my left final drive then it quit....I was using the brakes to keep straight going down the track before this started. Now I found last night as I was unloading I have no left brakes....did I break a band? I've never had the finals apart....needs final seals anyways so I want to do it all at one shot.

Benny, the grinding noise you heard might be a brake band worn down to the rivets... which then grind groves into the brake drum, leading to no braking power. Or you might have broken the band. Either way, you can change the brake bands w/o taking the finals apart......though if you have leaking seals, fixing those would be a fine idea.

its not grinding....it was hanging up a bit, then quit...you could feel it grab a bit....at first I thought I messed the rear up as it felt like when I'd grenade 10 bolt chevy rears but then the brakes stopped....well stopped stopping lol

my brakes actually worked really well until this happened....The foot brakes are kinda worthless though...I mean they're good for slowing up and slow stopping but if you need some whoa power you gotta grab a hand brake...with all the linkage's to make the footbrakes work, it takes all the leverage out of the system.
