WC air cleaner mesh replacement |

I have the air cleaner all fixed up for my35 WC. I took the wire mess out and soaked it in solvent and it came out almost clean, My problem is if you jiggle any of the 5 sections of mesh, the wire breaks and crumbles. I'm afraid if a piece of this breaks loose while the engine is running, the quarter inch hardware cloth on top won't keep little pieces from being sucked into the carb.
Does somebody make replacement wire for these or could a guy use a bunch of steel wool to replace it? Any ideas are appreciated. Charlie |

I don't think there is a replacement made.
Steel wool rusts and falls apart. I'm sure someone on here has come up with something. |

TSC caries the replacement mesh. Seems likeit's around $17.00 a section.

Is the stuff TSC selling made for air cleaners or is it just a wire mesh for any purpose.
I never seen air cleaner wire mesh replacments at our store. |

Some plastic or SS chor boys for scrubbing pots may work. Friend used them for air cleaners on his bike, worked great in SS as he just coated them with light oil spray every so often

they told me to cut a bunch of disks from a fiberglass filter mat that they sell for furnaces. I did it for mine. went pretty quick...
