My D-14 power director was low on fluid yesterday so I added enough to get it up to the
full mark. This tractor has been sitting up for a couple of years. After I ran it a couple of minutes today I re-checked the PD and it's obvious there is some water mixed in with the oil. I know it needs to be drained, flushed and refilled. Unfortunately I was on my way to do a couple of hours work and it will take half the day to drain, flush, re-drain and refill it. Does anyone think I will harm the clutch by running it a couple of hours? I personally don't think it will but I'd like opinions on it before I go. I only have a few minutes so if no one answers right away I'll use my best judgement.

Damn, another lost day! I need to get this work done for this lady and she's tired of waiting. It's already loaded on the trailer. I can't disconnect the trailer from the truck with the tractor on it and I don't have another way to go get more fluid.
OK, thanks for telling me what I already knew but didn't want to hear. The truth of the matter is that I ran the thing about 5 hours the other day and since the oil I put in it yesterday was new the water had to already be there. I guess I don't need to push my luck any further.

Oh well, I'll pull the trailer past the parts place, get some oil an change it on the trailer when I get to the work site. I'll take a bit of diesel fuel to rinse it out with and hope for the best. If I don't get all the water out I'll just have to do it again when I get home.
If I had just thought to check it this morning before I started it I could have drained most of the water off the bottom before it got all milk shaked up. That would have helped the process.

If I were you I'd drain and refill it, run it or use it awhile, then drain and refill it again. I'm sure the cooler and lines have water in them already too.

Ok here's the new plan. I'm going to drain it while it sits on the trailer, pour some diesel fuel mixed with some oil I have here in it, stop at the store on the way to the job, buy a 5 gal bucket of oil, add some, run the pump, re-drain and re-fill and go to work. I'll have to carry buckets, funnels and stuff so I can change it at the customers place without spilling oil on the ground.

Ok, it's drained and flushed. Mike I don't think there is a cooler on a D-14 PD. It's just a mullti-disc wet clutch running in an oil filled housing. If there is a cooler I can't find it in my manual so I should be ok. At any rate, I've done what I can to it with out pulling it apart so I'll refill it and go to work. It's better than it was any way.

To give you some idea of capacity, a D-15 P/D holds 8 1/3 qts.
