Hmm I see VW has announced a hybrid version of their Golf.. and the big talk is on the 'combination 48 volt starter generator' that that can both start AND generate power at the same time ! Apparently starter-generators are a NEW device ! So, does that mean my A-C B212 is NEW ???? The real scary tech is the 'crossover' electronics to  convert 48 volt generator power into 12 volt battery power ( for lights, dash, screens, etc) which also can use the 12V battery to recharge the 48V Li-Ion battery. Active bidirectional power systems are complicated ! So yet another $$$$$ 'computer' that'll fail and up the 'cheap car' price !!

yeah.. what has me stumped is they said that BOTH starter AND genny can be used at the same time ! To me that says there's a separate starter winding AND a separate genny winding in the unit.
What I do know is it'll be big $$$ to fix !
