Hello
I’m reaching out for assistance in determining what type of
Allis Chalmers I am dealing with - so far I think its a U . The short back history is its located
in Idaho and was used on the railroad as a welder. Its been sitting in
this garage for more than 40 years (is my best guess). Does anyone has information to offer can offer about this tractor? Do you know any antique clubs that would be interested in this to restore? I need to find it a new loving home with a group that would restore it to is former beauty. Thanks Edited by CIdaho - 03 Jul 2018 at 10:53pm |

First off, welcome to the forum. Pictures or maybe a serial number would help.

Looking at the past to see the future.
'53 WD, '53 WD45, WD snap coupler field cultivator, #53 plow,'53 HD5B dozer Duct tape.... Can't fix stupidity. But will muffle the sound of it! |

Looks like an IU welder, perhaps with many mods, from the RR, through the years...

Definitely an IU (industrial U). That's a pretty neat unit and possibly a one of a kind. Are you looking to sell it or donate it or what exactly? I'm sure there are quite a few organizations that would love to restore and display it.

He who dies with the most toys is,
nonetheless ,still dead. If all else fails ,Read all that is PRINTED. |

setting inside for 40-50 years has help quite a bit with LITTLE RUST... And it might be a one of a kind modification.. Im with FRED....... post it and look for bids... try here first and if you don't get results, try a bigger auction house ( but that cost money).

Thank you for this information - We are initially looking to sell it, but don't even know where to start.
To be honest Ive never posted much on forums before is there a special page on this one to post it for sell? Any suggestions for ideas would be awesome

On the rear end, below the operator's platform, towards the left.
I'd be interested in a photo of the serial number (rubbing it with chalk or something usually makes it possible to photograph). I also think I've discovered a much earlier industrial U. Would be interesting to compare.

The value increases if the engine turns. Goes up more if the engine runs. Couple auction results from last year. $1500 - $2500 for a running U. It's a starting point to determine the value of yours.
