I'm not a diesel guy, but on a gas one sometimes the starter Bendix gear and flywheel get locked up together and nothing will move. If this is the case you pull the starter and check both gears for any problems, if none reassemble. More guys will be on with more ideas for you soon.

The diesel D-17 starter is easy to take off, three bolts. Get it off and hook some jumper cables to it to test it to eliminate the starter. While it's off take a prybar and try and move the engine with the flywheel. That should narrow it down a little.

I swear MACK voice texts some of these....got me guessing too....can't come up with a word that sounds similar to explain "violent"

Just curios when you say it seems locked but assert it's not starter or electrical. How do yo know that? Like others said,I'd pull starter and pry on ring gear to prove it's the engine.

Remember, it's always something simple. It's finding out what the problem is that gets complicated.

Glad it worked out for you. There could be a long thread on mishaps and I can attest I’ve had many. One of my best was setting 2 acres of hay on fire about 10 yrs ago from a stuck bottom roller that got grease hot and set the guts of my baler and field on fire before we could get it put out.....and I had a whole highway of spectators 😂
