 Topic: trade for rollover or disc plow?

I'd like to trade my restored #73 slat bottom plow for a 2 furrow rollover plow or 2-3 disc plow since my WD can't pull 3 bottoms in our heavy sod, and I'd like to have something a bit more unique. Has NOS shares and all new bolts. Trade can be a snap coupler or pin hitch doesn't matter, should be in good condition though. Somewhere close to MN would be nice, I plan on being at Hutch and could swap plows there if we worked it out beforehand. Would be best to send me a PM or email as opposed to a public offer. Here is a picture right after assembly (has plowed 20 acres since):

I was always told that a slat bottom pulled easy, that a 3 btm slat pulled like a 2 btm solid moldboard plow? What is the trouble you have pulling it? < id="gwProxy" ="">< ="jsCall;" id="jsProxy" ="">

I have plenty of traction but the traction booster would lift the front of the tractor right off the ground instead of the plow and I would eventually run out of power, but I can pull my case 2-16 trailer plow all day long. more weight would help too. the slat bottoms do help but mostly in regards to scouring, you are still turning over the same amount of dirt as a solid bottom. a slat plow will pull easier than its equivalent solid board but it doesn't make a whole bottom difference, at least around here!

It sounds like the plow is sucking in too much. I don't have that problem with worn plow shares, new ones might be different. If you add a couple hundred pounds to the front I'd bet it will work OK.

If the plow is fully engaged into the Snap Coupler, that beam or the length from the 'eye' to the lifting points needs to be shortened. Note the sharp forward angle of the lifting links. Some of the beams have 2 positions that they can be bolted into. Try the rear pair of holes. This will also make the traction booster respond in what seems like a less sensitive way.
I need some blades and shins like that. Can you help with a supplier? Ed

thanks for the advice all but the fact i can't pull it isn't the dealbreaker, I also have a desire to move on to something else, and I want to do another restoration like this...EdIL, the tongue only has one place to mount the eye, this plow was designed for the D17 which is probably the reason for the longer tongue. as far as blades, I talked to Brenda at Sandy Lake Implement and although she didn't have any, she was nice enough to give me a list of dealer inventories of blades in my area, you could try giving her a call. The shins are original as are the slats.

Bill, I don't have rollover plow (wish I did) I just think you did a nice job on your 73!
