 Topic: AC 185 fuel pump and injectors

I rebuilt the engine a few years ago. Fuel pump was supposed to be turned 40% and put rebuilt injectors in. It only has 80 hp and was told it should be 100 hp without turbo. Also was told to take injectors and fuel pump for a 200 and place on the 185. Is this the correct thing to do or do you have any other suggestions. Thank you in advance.

There is no way it will make 100hp without a turbo. Turn the stock pump till the fuel falls out the stack, maybe 90 on the right day. Someone is giving you a line of BS. Start doing some modifications, might get your 100.

I've set up a few setups like yours before, and they will make more than 80. Stock they were 74hp and there is more room to grow, even non turbo. Someone just didn't get you set up correctly.

upon rebuild of the injectors, I would put in the tip for a 7080 (in stock) and set the openiong pressure to my own spec. Then upon rebuild of the pump, I'd make my secret little tweaks there too. Do you plan to add a turbo? pulling it right?

I pull it in farm stock classes down here in southern il. 7000/9000lbs classes. Like to put 16.9/38 on it. I got18.4/38 on it now have power in 1 st gear in the 9000 to spin out but would like more. With putting the taller tires on. and No the turbo because [supposed to be]farm/ field tractors. I'm running against 560 ih and 4020jd that got good 100 hp. Being the only A-C. Stock 185 injectors tips and nothing done the pump but turn up and checked . [thanks for the info injpump]

Not sure how much you use this tractor other than pulling. If you want to get past 100 HP without a turbo you will need to improve the airflow through the manifolds and cylinder head. Porting the head would be job one. Improving the manifolds would be next. Faster ratio rockers may help but that would be down the list a ways.

I've always wanted to mount a large 2 barrel carb inside the air cleaner canister and fuel it with windshield washer fluid for a hidden two-fuel engine.
