Hey Guys,
My 616 has a good running original Onan engine. It seems to be running a little hot. Backfires when shutting it off. Anybody have any ideas?
I plan on replacing the engine in a few years. Thanks, Tom

Carbon buildup on the heads probably.Might have timing off slightly and cooling fins clogged up. HTH Tracy

Back firing isn't really a running hot issue. Any little flake of carbon or oil residue buildup can cause this. A lean carb will mare it pop and backfire while lowering throttle or at shutdown. Btw, a lean carb will also make it run above normal temp.
Yea, I can fix that.....
