wel gearing ground speed book shows 16.9-34 the same ground speed as a 13.6 or 15.5-38.
but has a bigger contact area 229 square inches. My local rules have changed. I might be willing to sell my Shurman Underdrive.

I'd think in 3500 and 4000 lb it would be okay unless the sled is ridiculous.

My unstyled with 13.6 38 at 1850 rpm i got a horn at 4mph off the line in first gear are club runs 3mph so I have to idle down the track a good ways before you open it up too much are fair pull is 4mph that's how I know it will go over 4mph

So it would be just about right for a 4 mph class, sweet that's what I'm shooting for.

My WD runs 5.2 in 1 st gear @ 2000 rpm under no load with full cut 16.9x34. It's impossiable to pull 3, 3.5 mph classes. 4 mph is good at 15 to 1600 rps. the trouble down here on this clay is 244 cid wont come back whe the sled loads the rear wheels and increases traction. We bumped the cid. , now pull, 4, 6 and 8 mph! That equates to First, second, and Third gears in the 3500, and 4000# classes, after that we back to first gear.
If you pull on loose tracks that allow for slippage you will be ok, but if you are going to be on tight "power" tracks read my post carefully... Just my honest EXPERINCE, not opinion
