     Let me apoligize to the people on this forum because this is not AC but is tractor related. I have a "HOUGH" Payloader model 50.  the original fuel pump has been changed out. This machine has a IH engine ,like in a pick-up.  I talked to the PO and he admitted to the "change" .  My dillema is that I dont know what the correct fuel pressure is. Can any one enlighten me. All opinions will be greatly appreciated.  TIA    CC

is it a gas engine? what kind of fuel pump? diaphragm or electric?

The new fuel pumps get eat up by the new gas we have if they sit for a period of time. combine engine has had pump replace twice in 3 years.  The last pump taken off, you could blow ir through it backwards. Can't pump fuel that way.  Take pump off and stroke lever and hold thimb on discharge port, it should hold pressure until you release your thumb from port

  the mechanical fuel pump that is on the engine now is overloading the float-shut off in the carb.  What is the optimum PSI for this set-up/. I have an adjustable regulator that goes from 1 lb to 5 lbs.  Thanks in advance   CC

any info i have found says 4-10 psi. i would go on the low side if your float will not hold. if it still will not shut it off, replace the needle and seat. it does not take much pressure to keep a carb full, just volume. hope this helps.

Check and make sure you floats are not crushed or full of fuel, check to make sure your inlet to carb is absolutely clean as well as the needle seat area. Also check float height and make sure your float arms are not bent to the point that it allows flooding.
