We have a 180 that the power director clutch slip in both hi & low. We checked the pressure on the power shift valve for the hi range and only have 100 psi @ about 3/4 throttle. We check the relief under the dash, only 1 shim so we added the equivilent of 2 more shims but it didn't increase the pressure much if any. Where do I look next?

You're probably in the right place. Did you remove the regulating spool ?? or just add shims?? I'll bet the spool is stuck....needs to be pulled out and polished and maybe polish the bore to get it to slide freely...be careful, there's a little plunger in one end of the spool that can be lost if you don't know it's there.

Thanks DrAllis, took it apart again, the spring & valve plunger came out but the spool did not, I could feel it with my finger was able to turn it & move it some. Put it back together w/o shims hoping it would move back down and now I have 250 psi just above idle, went up to about 290 psi when throttled up some. I think if I could get the spool out & clean good I'd have it. If I get the spool out what should I polish it with?
