ANYBODY HAVE A GOOD WAY TO TEST A B OR C OIL PUMP BEFORE INSTALLING IT IN THE TRACTOR?

Here is what I did Bruce. Took a piece of 3/8 rod and cut a notch in the end so it fits into the pump like the cam shaft does, then put the rod in the drill and spun the pump while it was submerged in the parts washer and fluid shot out the pipe on the top. I assume that means it's working but I won't know until I split my C and install it. Need to spin it counter clockwise. My pump won't hold a prime so hopefully this one will.

quite often a pump that wont hold prime is loosing its suction due to a leak. Think of a well pump that is running. Shut it off and you hope it holds prime. Poke a hole in the line, have a thread leaking, or bad check valve on the foot... and you loose prime. Look for similar problems in your oil line.

inspect it while it is out!!!! possibly a bad relief ball just had one with a bad one
will know if checked replace the ball
