I don't know where or when this was taken, but pretty impressive!

We try to have a plow day around here. Do you think they have a harvest day? Anyway that is impressive! Would like to see some more silver bullets out there than the green ones.

Norton, Kansas in 2008. 100 combines took 10 minutes 15 seconds to harvest the 160 acres of grain. Part of a Guiness World record with the money from the grain proceeds going to a kids camp. |

It looks like a picture from Winkler, Manitoba, Canada in 2006.

It was swathed first so each combine could go at its own speed.

I wonder if the IH at top in front got a head start? And 2 of the Deeres in back appear to not be harvesting? Why is there a big gap about 2/3 up?

I watched two videos on youtube - for some reason the middle third didn't start when the outsides did. No one got a head start that I saw, and there were a few machines trailing behind the others not running a windrow. I thought they might be spares in case one of the runners broke down. This was all an attempt to set a record for harvesting 160 acres. I figured they wanted the back ups to be sure they finished all the windrows.

I'm thinking you're more correct with the location. The same photos are being used to claim records in two different areas, Manitoba and Kansas in 2006 and 2008. Obviously I wasn't there but I read the Kansas claim on another tractor forum. When you go to the combine forum, there is quite a discussion there as to who's right with their claim. Anyway, the record claim is a bit irrelevant unless you're combining identical crop yields. A 3.5 Tonnes/acre yield over 160 acres is always going to take longer to combine than a 2 Tonne/acre yield over the same number of acres. |

It is Canada. You can tell by the B-train trailer configuration on the one truck. This setup is not used in the US.

I noticed the Gleaners are near the front of the pack, and I also notice the straw looks different at the rear of the machines. It appears more ground up. Maybe there is something to all the talk about not baling good. Needless to say, the older N series machines are performing right along with all the newer stuff from the other manufacturers. I still think they are one heck of a good design.
