Tip I will pass along ... This company @ http://www.jatrodiesel.com/biodiesel-sales off road diesel/fuel oil at $2.95 a gallon.
They are located in Miamisburg, Ohio. I ran across them & filled my pickup tank on Friday .... I know this is biodiesel but if your heating oil tank stays above freezing, I don't think they deliver - but they have 250 gallon on up transfer tanks

Boy, boy, when the state of Ohio catches you burning that colored fuel in your pick-up you are going to recieve an education in "obeying the law" and I promise you, it will be a very expensive trip to the courthouse, take my advice, STOP NOW !!!

Read the post again. He is saying on road fuel which is taxed and not dyed at $3.52 a gallon. I don't think he is running across country burning dyed fuel. Edited by CTuckerNWIL - 14 Nov 2011 at 8:14pm |

I bought on road for $3.52 a gallon.

I would imagine Jim had that tank burned up before the day was done.

Jim
If you got an older pre a ton of emissions stuff, you could look at running it on used motor oil. Is what I do in my 99 powerstroke. Yeah yeah, right now ya can't get pinched for running black fuel.

So what do you do to the oil you drain out of the crankcase before you dump it in your tank? Maybe time for another thread so we don't hijack this one.

Some guys put 2 cycle oil, tranny fluid, used motor in their diesel fuel tank.
If I had a direct injection diesel I would not advise putting any of the above
in your tank.
Diesel injectors and pumps are very expensive.

Jim: you are right! i wouldn't put it in my 6.0 Powerstroke as problematic as they are. Wish I had an older cheaper engine right now!!

Jim...i put a quart of dextron tranny fluid in my tanks twice a year, both vehs and farm equipment...have never had an injector go out yet, and that's over a million miles of driving, and over 50,000 hrs of operation. it works in both gas and diesel and is very inexpensive!

Been using B100, pure biodiesel in farm tractors, 8070 and 8050 for 5 years no trouble yet. I run the fuel through a 2 micron filter before using. fuel is made from used cooking oil. In illinois i believr you can make and use for your own use up to 20000 gal with no trouble with state.
