I was wondering if anyone else has put a D17 diesel exhaust manifold and muffler on a WD45 diesel? We had one when I was a kid that my dad's cousin had put on (had to open up the hood a little to get the muffler to fit). My brother had our other original WD45D overhauled lately and had them put on the D17 manifold and it sounds exactly like the other tractor did....mellow like the D17, not "tootie" like the WD45 manifold. It sounds like a D17D.....hasn't been dynoed so I don't know if it changed the hp or not. All I know is that tractor was our workhorse back then.

Don't know about the diesel, but we have the WD45 manifold on our WD. Dad said that was done for more power, BUT, we mostly use it in winter to push snow, and it does not want to stay running when it is cold-you have to choke it ALL the time, and then it still wants to fall on its face at times.

Eldon, did you keep the left side exhaust, or did you go ahead and cut the hood for a RH exhaust?

The exhaust comes out the same hole, just had to be cut square. No that I think about it, it is probably a modified 230 manifold.....I've never really taken a good look at it lately.
