Would it be possible to set up a WD-45 for a 6 volt charging and 12 starting system? I have a hard starting WD-45 but have a working 6 volt generator!

Well, they were all orriginally 6 volt systems, the starter just happens to be tough enough, and not typically used that much to burn it up. If you are having problems, with cranking speed, make sure ALL battery connections are good, clean, and tight. Also make sure your battery cables are the correct size, not some aftermarket cheap autozone pencil sized replacement. In theory to get the same effort out of the same starter all other things being equal, a 6 volt will have to flow twice the current of a 12 volt starter to put out the same mechanical force. So, on a 6 volt system, everything needs to be in top shape, or the thing will spin slow.
