Dad tells of a WD they had that needed a long block. This was after the D17 was out. When the engine came, it was labeled as a D17! Dad wishes he could find and purchase that one!

D17 block should fit no problem. I believe The 45 and 17 engine blocks were basically the same. I have a replacement block that looks like a 17 or 45 block that came out of a WD that I parted out. D19 would be different as that is a 6 cylinder engine.

We have a D-17 D put in a WD 45, had to cut part of the frame for the oil filter. I am having trouble posting pics right now, Photobucket Eng. are working on it, however I had a post on a 172 mower a couple of weeks back that may show it. I will go look .

Ya, I said D-19, I meant 170, I thought the 170 had the same family of engine as the 45/D-17
