What would be the best/easiest to find & use planter for my B?
Old horse drawn?
Some other pull behind?
Add a 3-pt hitch & get something for that?
etc.

I haven't actually got the B yet, but I'm supposed to be picking it up this coming weekend.

The Allis Chalmers Planter for the B was a one row planter mounted on the cultivator frame.  Was mounted but was a hard mount since you had to take the shovels off the cultivator and put on the planter mechanism.
I have to day Harvey seems to have the right idea.
Take good care of my favorate when you get it.
Good Luck!

If you find an old 2 row pull type planter cheap enough, buy it. All the stuff on ebay has way crazy pricing for old 2 row planters. It might be cheaper to by an old 4 or 6 row planter and take a unit off and rig it for 3 point hitch. The problem with that is the guys that are already doing that for the people that want something for a food plot.

I bought an old 290 John Deere two row planter, I pull behind my WD. The 290 I have does not require hydraulics, the planter has a rope operated mechanical lift. I planted some with it this spring and it planted good. Plates are readily available too. I have a IH 455 planter that is 4 row for sale if anyone is interested. Pastor Mike

A john deere 290 would be a good match for the b. I have one I plan on using with a c later on maybe next year to plant sorghum cane. Plates are cheap at farm sales for them too. 5 or 6 bucks for a boxfull is all i ever have paid. What ever you end with, good luck.
