It was a good day! After putting Wayne back together yesterday, and unsuccessfully attempting to get it going, Dad and I tried again today. If you all remember, at Christmas time we went through the head and cleaned and lapped the valves, resurfaced the manifold and put new seals on it. But then we ran out of time. We have since had the radiator gone through as well, but I'm not really happy with the quality of the "fixing" the "professional" did, so if I can't find a good person to fix it, I think I may learn how to do some basic radiator soldering myself. IF you want it done right...
So anyway, yesterday we got it back together and torqued down but were having no luck getting it to run. Turns out we forgot to adjust the valves so we were getting no compression. And without that, engines don't like to run. Dumb over look, but now we know. He popped right off after a few cranks once the valves were adjusted correctly, LOL! And now he starts on the second crank usually. Here is a video to prove it. We had it running earlier, so not a cold start, but it was cool enough I could touch the manifold. First crank, nice.... :)

Which is a vast improvement over this:
[TUBE]4rPkYRPFVPM&feature=related[/TUBE] So I don't wana hear how Wayne needs a tune up any more, LOLOL! :) And note how I am cranking it from the top like many suggested here. Thanks again to all that have helped, gave suggestions, and advice thus far, I appreciate it all! It is such a good feeling to get a tractor running good again! I'm still smiling ear to ear, and can't wait until tomorrow to go start him again! |

Here is another video for ya'll! Dad coming back after a little test drive now that he runs good. He was having way too much fun, LOL!
[TUBE]tmXA8vkVt1E[/TUBE] You can hear him saying to me at the end that the clutch (hand) pops out some times. That will probably be one of the next things to fix. New bushing in the hand lever and maybe some adjusting of the wet clutch. It works perfectly smoothly though, so I hate to even mess with it any. |

Sounds good -- and a lot less cranking required. Good work.
