Anyone here weld up and re-mill their drawbar at the outer pin hole? I am about to go this route and wondered if anyone had done it with poor results as in losing the temper in the bar? I am using the drawbar more often than the 3 point on the old 180 and the wear is damaging my pins/hitches on the drawn equipment.

I welded one up 2 weeks ago and had it all milled, and turned out nice, a little bit of time involed, just weld it and let it cool on its own. I just used .035 Hard wire and keep filling it in. good luck Steve

Can you drill it out and weld a bushing in of the correct hole size then cut/mill off the excess bushing length on both sides do the drawbar is flat/smooth again? Mike

I don't know what the original was as someone prior to me gas-axed the hole bigger (1 1/4" x 1 3/8") so I am going to weld it more closed, possibly weld overlay the tongue region as it too is worn severely and then re-mill it to correct thickness and drill/mill the draw pin hole to 1 1/16" so the pin will give some in maneuvering. I will have to get a photo of before and during then after as I finish up.

if you put a piece of brass in the hole first you can weld it up without milling it afterwards. you'll be left with a round hole the size of the brass.

Looks good as new. Hopefully the welding didn't mess up any heat treating, if those drawbars are even heat treated metal.
