Just wondering who make an OEM battery for the 918H? I can't seem to find a round, top post battery that will fit in the original spot. I guess I can't complain, the original has lasted for 13 years! I hate to go to a smaller one, and have to change the cables and/or the ends. Thanks.

Hay Kevin. If it looks like a 'regular' lawn tractor battery but with top posts I have one sitting here, don't ask why.I think it came from a Toro machine($$$), maybe your nearby Walmart or crappytire.I know Walmart is $10 cheaper( $24) than CrappyTire($34) for the SAME battery ! Also CrappyTire do have long, narrow, tall car batteries(fits Honda),top posts good for forklifts($70).Shoot ,getting old sucks, that battery I mentioned was from CTC for a forklift NOT a Toro...sigh...old age...what else to look forward to ???

i bought the highest cca rated lawn battery from my local interstate battery guy. it fits w/ plenty of room, but it does have the lawn type terminals on it. plenty of power to get the mower turning though.

Skip - my 716H from Don(MO) uses lawmower type connections and not the regular round post automotive type so I just did the same as you did, bought the highest CCA one they sold and stuck and stuck a short block of 2x4 in next to to it to snug it up since the slot was longer. Mike

All the auto style batts Iv'e had in my 7016 Simplicty's had caps and oozed wet all the time making a mess of everything. One is starter/generator,other is ring gear starter W/stator charging.I don't believe it is an overcharge thing.Anyway, I found a sealed top little 300 cca like the B1 use(lawnmower terminals) and made a hold down bracket and changed cables and it's GREAT!!! No mess and spins a 16hp Briggs. I think the original is a match for some Ford battery.

One size that fits is a Group 51. Expensive. Found one at Sams for $58 after I had already bought one from local garge for $72. I Was told this same battery is used in some smaller Jap cars...Mazda and Honda and even some older Fords.
