my WD 45 that I overhauled last winter has a problem with the hand clutch. I can feel and hear a snap when disengaging it, and it pull back in smooth and stays their but It will not disengage. I assume what happened is the plates are stuck together, So should I try taking things apart or check to make sure their is oil in the hand clutch housing and hook the three bottom plow up and go work it with the hand clutch in the disengaged position.
Thanks for any help or opinions,
Denis

Your hand clutch and trans/rear end share the same oil.Better check the plugs on left side. The rear two check same levels. The plates should never stick together although they will drag a little when oil is cold. |

Did it just start messing up? Was it wooking properly last time you drove the tractor? It is either adjusted wrong or the fork is messed up. |

I saved this tractor from going to the scrap yard. It needed a few engine parts. I got it running last fall and did not have time to mess with it. The hand clutch feels like it is working but the tractor will not even slow down when you disengage it. I even tried holding on the brakes and easing out the foot clutch with the hand clutch disengaged but it would not slip at all.
Thanks,
Denis

remove the battery and the clutch cover.ck.and see if one of your linkage pins have come out.(there are 6 of them)if one is missing you are very fortunate to have not got it caught in the gears, mainly the pto intermediate gear which is below the clutch where it comes out.if it gets into the pto gear the whole left lower side of the hand clutch moduel usually becomes instant scrap iron...

i might add,if the pin is missing it will more than likely be in the pto gear box on yhe bottom of the hand clutch module.i know because i have a 45-d that that very thing happened on...

Our 45 did the same thing the first time we ran it after we got it together. Pushed the hand clutch forward and ran it a few minutes and it came unstuck. It had sat at least a year without use. It had full decent fluid too.
My quad will do the same thing if it sits long enough. If I wrap wire around to hold the clutch in a little bit it won't do that. The heavy duty springs probably cause it. |
