 Can someone please explain the hydraulics on the D14 to me? My grandpa recently gave me his D14 and it has only one hydraulic connection at the rear. I've only seen hydraulics used in pairs. I'm confused!

the older hydraullic systems were power up and "float " donw. YOu put the one hose onto the end of the cylinder on the disc or 3 point to raise it up... when you put the lever back ot neutral it holds at that level... when you push the lever to "down" the oil in the cylinder is pushed back thru the supply hose tthru the valve and back to tractor oil sump.. the wieight of the disc or 3 point pushes the attachment down.

Ok, thanks. In that case, they can't be used for something like a logsplitter then, correct?

Correct, at least the way it's plumbed right now. I'm no expert but I would think you would be able to tap into a pressure line somewhere and add a control valve and then run a line back to the sump to add a "modern" remote.

That added on shut-off valve would allow you to raise a loader up off of the ground and close it, to hold the loader at a specific height. Then you could continue to use the 3pt hitch for something else.

The hydraulic pump on a D14 is only 1.5 gpm. Much too slow to run a wood splitter.

Thanks for that informaiton. I didn't realize the D14 only put out 1.5gpm. That would be some really slow cycle times!!!
