John Deere FB grain drill questions

   I know its not Allis Chalmers, but I got some questions.  A local scrap yard has a John Deere FB grain drill with grass seeder. I've looked it over, it looks in decent shape, and I asked them to hold it for a few days.  So I was wondering what has to be done, before I tow it home?  It is a mechanical lift model, so anything special need to be done to that?  Also I was wondering if anyone has any photos of the gearing that goes from the wheel gear drive to the seed box. I ask this because on one side there was a drive gear that was not touching any other gear as I turned the wheel.  Then about an inch from that gear was the gear for the seed box. Are those two pose to touch? Clear as mud right. One problem I had when I looked at the drill was that it was sitting on top of a car, so that wasn't helpful. When I go back I am gonna look the drill all over again before paying for. Any help on this would be very helpful.  Thanks

	Knowing nothing about the drill, I would guess the gear is away from the drive gear since its lifted. Probably disengages when lifted.

	Yup separating the gears is how it stops planting. To lower you pull on levers on each of the two lift boxes up front and they spin half a turn driven from the shaft that turns with the wheels all the time. It is possible to use small hydraulic cylinders to replace them. Gerald J.

	One of the best grain drills ever built also very good for people that plant food plots for deer you can pull with 4 wheeler utv pickup no need for hydraulics
