Folks I've been needing to trade tractors for the past couple of years.  A dealer near me has a 7040 for sale.  I've been away from them for over 20 years, memory went south too.  Can anyone remember pros and cons of them?

It's an Allis Chalmers, it has no cons!!! About all I know about them is that they are usually a lot of HP for the money. Darrel

7040 is a very reliable tractor, just check the standard stuff, blowby, clutch brake, torque limiter, hydros, smoke, noises, etc.  How many hours?  how rough is the sheetmetal?  those things will tell you a lot.
