 And decreasing my checking acc bal,but no matter what it costs, its found a home for the duration of my time here on earth.Once I can't afford to fix it,I'll park it,but its staying here.
Problem::::I posted that I was replacing seals in the hyd ram.While waiting for them to come,I am busy taking out bolts,pulling PTO shaft,and trying to find a pin,the book said was there,and me saying it ain't,because if it wus, ida seen it.
 
 I  figured  I'd look once more for the pin for the hec of it,while I was busy wiping everything off,and right next to calling the Author of that book, a great big lie,I wiped off a spot of grease next to a brake linkage I had missed,and BINGO,theres the pin.Plus,my negitive view of the books author, had just changed to a plus.
 
Anyway, while all this was going on,and as I was heading to the fridge for a Pepsi,I happened to glance down at the front wheels (tricycle) and about a gallon of PS fluid was puddled there,a closer look,I could see it had, and still is leaking,but slower,running down the pedestal between the two wheels.Even though the tractor had not been cranked or started for two days,its still leaking.
 
 Is Any body familiar enough with a D14's power steering,that you can pretty much know where that leak is getting by,and how to stop it? If so,I'd be mighty thankful for you to share that info ,if you don't mind..Many Thanks eb

Could possibly be seal #70227850 that does the sealing of the hyd.fluid in the front support housing. Along with that seal the sterring shaft # 70227845 becomes worn were seal rides and the new replacement seals are thinner/less good, so a "speedi-sleeve" may be in order to correct. Other leaks could be steering shaft retainer plate [ doubt this myself], gotta clean it real good and "find" the leak.

FYI, Most install 2 of the newer style lip seals around steering shaft because of the new thinner design and less effective sealing than old type seals [better quality in the old day's!]

Ok,after I pulled the radiator and shroud from the front support,theres a large hole below and to the right of the crank hole,the PS oil is coming out of it.The book calls it a core hole, and evidently the plug has been missing for quite a while.
 
Anyway I called to check on one, but they are no longer available.It must have been some type of expansion plug, because there are no threads.Anyone have an idea or a shade tree fix short of a weld,lol??Thanks folks for the helpful advice. eb

How big is the hole ?
Could you use the rubber expansion plugs used to keep boats from sinking or water in lawn rollers ? Those are about 1 - 1/4" in diameter?

Local Auto parts store for a freeze plug in appropriate size.

I had a core hole plug go bad on an old Ford tractor.  ACE hardware stocks a whole group of those rubber hole seals with washers on both sides and a bolt through them to tighten it up.  Sure did a good job.

LOL,that was my first thought,and it is about an inch and a quarter in size,the thing is a boat plug has a piece that flips down,or a thumb screw that might stick out.Needs to be flush on account of the radi shroud.Which I guess I could tighten it real tight and cut the thumb piece off.

I'll make some calls for the freeze plug that size, and a rubber expansion plug like a boat plug.I think both will work fine with a little adjusting here and there.Thanks guys for the advice..eb
