hey everyone im not new i lost all my login info and had to register again..i bought a 170 today for $600 w/cracked block and was wandering how hard it is to find a used one and how bad expensive they are?

depending on where the block is cracked...can ya JB weld it? the rest of the tractor looks good, i think that was a GREAT deal $$.

Gas or Diesel? if it is a gas a Gleaner "E" combine engine will fit right in. they are selling for about $500-$1000 for a good running one. Does the tractor run? Might be easier and faster to try to JB weld it or something like that.

Better weld it. Good Perkins block is about $1500

I have a rebuildable Perkins I'd let go for $1500...on Ebay they want $3-4k for a core!

Seems head and crank are each worth almost $1000 each too. So that puts your core at near $4000.
