My 6060 diesel quit on me while plowing snow yesterday. It was above zero temps and was working fine and suddenly the RPMs dropped and then it idled for a short time then quit. It has mostly number 1 fuel in it with a few gallons of wintermaster in it, all the fuel was bought at Cenex. After sitting a few minutes it would start and run for a short time then quit again. I changed the fuel filter today and added some diesel 911 to the fuel, tried to bleed the fuel system and today it will not even start. It was plugged in all night last night so the block is warm. There is fuel to the injectors because i loosened all the lines at the injectors and cranked the motor over till fuel came out like the owners manual said to do, and she still will not start. What the heck is going on? is there an injector pump problem? Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like water in the fuel...My Kubota (I know but it is the right colour) did that to me just before Christmas. I, too, was using it on the snowblower. I changed the filter and bled the lines but was lucky enough for it to start. It quit again (2x) one day a week later and I cleared the filter bowl each time and started again. I put Kleen-Flo diesel Conditioner in the tractor tank, had my big tank "dipped" and put some Kleen Flo in it as well. The dipping showed no water in the storage tank. I blamed the nozzle of the pump and think that snow blew up into it as the storage is outside. Sorry I can't help more but that was my experience...It has worked well ever since.

With the cold temperatures recently, it is pretty easy for diesel to gel up. That happened to my dad's green 3140 on the weekend - revs dropped, then died. Had to rescue it with the 6080! Try to move it to someplace warm and wait for it to warm up.

happened on my 986 two weeks back .. put 911 in and that did the trick .. after i got home .. changed filters ..no problems since

If you get the fuel too thin, and your pump is getting tired, that may be whats happening. With mostly #1 fuel, you shouldn't need much if any anti gel in it. Make sure the return from the pump is not clogged. When the inertia ring in the pump starts to disintegrate, the little pieces can clog the return. Clogged return causes high internal pressure and the pump stops working.

Check the shut off tee at the right hand rear of fuel tank.There can be a restriction just like the 200,it may get some fuel,but just not enough.

I think Brian has it. Return line is plugged and pressure is building up in the pump.
I had it happen on my D-21

If flex ring were going in the pump(which it probably is) it would still re-start after it dies. the housing pressure that causes it to die bleeds down when shut down. Now maybe someone knocked the return ball out of pump, and all the flex ring bits went to tank plugging the tank outlet. good luck, Ed.

wiff of either while cranking it over to see if it runs on either to clear any fuel problems. If after several tries it still wont run look for fuel problems of pump or flow to pump.
be sure fuel shutoff is working right and not part way closed or not working at all.

If you think it might be water in fuel cover it up with a tarp and blow a heater into the tarp.After a couple hours take tarp off and try to start it.

Thought about this last night .. i think Brian and other guys are prob right .. my first reaction was with the cold and such being a fuel line froze . and then i remembered our return line became plugged (once ) many moons ago ...

It warmed up to 35 today and when I got home from work I tried to start it and it fired right up. Ran rough for a few moments the ran smooth. I even blew snow with it for about a half hour and it worked good. I'm confused. Thanks.

I think you answered your own question... Didn't work when it was less than 32F, now works when it was 35F. Water freezes at.......
