![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Original paint, 4000 hrs, and new firestones on the rear. She runs as good as she looks. I waited a long time for a good one to come up for sale, so that makes it all the sweeter to me. It was a long haul, 1000 miles round round trip on not the best of roads. It took 21 hours round trip with fueling stops only. I was so glad to give it a job when I got home.

Sweet , nice looking 170. Is that an Orchard model with that cut off muffler. My WD45 has a broke off muffler ,It does such a good job under the trees I left it that way.
Just giving you a hard time, great find.I would love to find a 170/175 that looks that good. |

Was just thinking of you today. That's one nice looking machine. Be sure to give it a good check-over before you put it to hard use. Would your son like a good used 190 XT toy tractor to mess with? I have the front end freed up and was pretty sure you have a 190 in the stable out there, I would like to send it to him if he would like it.

Thanks for the kind replies! Pat thats a good one I have to tell my neighbor he's an IH guy that loves his tractors as much as I love mine. Chris you are too kind. D17 owner, I first found it in the classified section of this page with no contact info and no response when I PM the guy (new member). Then I found it on tractor house. I have wathed every place I could think to look for nearly a year daily.
My wanting a 170 started a few years after my Dad bought his 15 years ago. He has worked that thing day in and day out for 15 years with no repairs only regular maintainence. I have been lucky enough at the age of 28 to get my own herd of cattle going on the side of being a full time electrician. I have reached the point where a second chore tractor was needed, and was blessed enough to find this one.
Dean/Mn I have a receipt, so its ok.

You did alright.
I have the 170 my dad bought back in 1975. It hasn't really had a day off in all the years. Has had new hand clutch put in it once, brakes replaced before we got it and I had her shut down long enough to pull the head and grind valves (new exhaust valves, one was burnt) and back to feeding cattle. Usually has bale forks on both ends. gets used in the woods hauling trees too and what ever duties it happens to get assigned to. Been watching for a low houred one so I can have a backup.
You lucky buck... but good things come to those who wait. LOL Just hope you didn't sneak it out of my neck of the woods.

Very nice! Now you need to find a 517 loader, they work very well together. Mine is a 1973 with just under 2000 hours.

Very nice unit. With the original paint, it would be a great candidate for the Allis Connection calendar. Is the additional iron on the front end a weight substitute? I have a 1967 One-Seventy gas with AC 500 loader. I just pushed snow with it yesterday. I like how they start right up even at cold temps. Enjoy your new tractor!

The iron up front is suppossed to be for weight but it is only 200 pounds. How much do the suitcase weights for the 170s weigh and cost? How much weight is needed to be able to handle large round hay bales, if any? Dad has a loader on his and handles them with ease, but has never tried it without the loader, and I haven't had time to try yet.
