Of all the junk I have aquired over the years, I don't have a single thing, with a serial # of any significance. Every thing I own, seems like its in the middle. I was just wondering if anyone had anything with the first or last serial # that was built.

Seems I've heard that sometimes the first few of a model were kept at the plant for use and testing, if that's true then someone owning #1 probably isn't too likely. It would be neat to know the earliest of each model. I have model C #30 but I know that's not the earliest one known.

You might concider yourself lucky. I looked at a track machine once and the price was right , it ran good, and everything was great / then talked to shop forman at dealer. Machine Srl#X4 , meaning it was expiermental machine, nothing on it was production run as far as internals everything they had done in shop had to be special ordered or made or hunted for in odd AC / FA places.
Ran into guy who had bought it a few years later, machine was down waiting for special order parts (in 2nd month of wait)

well, I have a 220 within the last 150 made, but I would still trade it on a 220 fwa. You don't know where I could find one do you? lol Those are pretty special no matter what the serial number.

Not first, or real special, by any means, but I have B#119 (19th built), B#31197(one of the first production runs of IB's, w/ B serial#), B#49728 (8th made in 1941), a Potato B (1940, don't have S/N offhand), and a whole herd of commoners..... (a couple steel wheelers, wartimers, etc too)
Need to keep working the deal on an Asparagus B and, once I get a credible display location close to home, a Waukesha B. Edited by GlenninPA - 21 Jan 2011 at 9:25pm |

I have two 1955 CA's with consecutive serial numbers, 34015 & 34016. I bought the first one in 2002 and the second one last year with no clue as to what I had until I wrote all the serial numbers down one day and then realized what I had. Don Jr.

I just bought a D-12 this week, serial 1007. Did I read somewhere the first two were prototypes, making this the 5th actual D-12?

It would be the 7th built. It doesn't matter if the first two were prototypes as long as they had serial numbers 1001 and 1002.
