I want to bump up the RPM of my 1938 from 1400 to 1650 like it was set at on the later models. My experience with governors is that if adjusted incorrectly, the motor will start reving up and down harmonically. I know there are several ways to adjust a governor also, ie move spring, replace spring, adjust linkage, etc.
Has anyone adjusted the governor on an early B to match the RPM of a later B, and if so, how did you do it? Thanks, -JR

A 1938 engine originally had an "odd" governor spring and associated parts (gov arm, lever, etc). You'd be best served to obtain later model governor linkage (1940? and newer) and then use a "CA" spring/plunger or for even faster speeds a D14/D15 spring/plunger. Adjust/bend linkage to obtain proper dimensions after installation. |
