I've been looking over my recently acquired 1966 D15 II, and have found it to be quite original.  Original paint, original tires (3 out of 4), and original rad hoses that are more than ready to be replaced.
 
I was in for a surprise when I checked the air filter ...
It says to replace after 6 washings or annually - whichever occurs first.
 
I guess the original owner did not read that part!  Fortunately, the filter is not too bad - dusty, but no coarse sand found in there.  Safe to say, I think it is time to be replaced!
 
PS.  It has 14.9 x 26 tires on the rear, but I want to step up to 16.9 x 26.  Will they fit on the existing rims?  Hope so!

There is only one width of 26" power shift rims available. I have seen 16.9's on a D-15 but the tire was really pulled in on the narrow rims. I was going to do the same thing and was going to make up a pair of rims. I found 14" or 15" wide flat base rims with the 8 x 8 bolt pattern from a M-F 405 pull type combine. The rims from a Gleaner have a drop center. I was going to cut out the center and weld in the rails from some scrap 28" rims. I ended up moving the center disc on the rims to correct the offset and using the tires and rims on my D-17d grove tractor.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

I've got 16.9s on my D15II and they look nice, but Calvin is right.  My tires are long-bar/short-bar and they look pulled and have some bounce to them, but they were cheap when I needed tires, so there they are.  Its not original, but 14.9x28s actually look pretty good on a D15, and not many people are likely to notice the difference if you have WD tires/wheels on it, it looks pretty good.

I also pulled the original filter out of my series II.  It didnt work so well for me.  I had to replace all of the valves as the stems were wore way past spec.  The pistons also shown proof of dusting.
