Now that Ed is lurking about... the reground cam in my pulling tractor is second hand, did not get a card, guys did not recall who ground it, some one in Indiana??? It was for a 3000 RPM class, thats why I added larger ratio rockers. Here is strange I think, rough measurements for valve opening after rockers is Intake .500 , ex .610. Does this seem odd ex is so much higher lift??? I know they want the hot gass out to spin turbo but it is already getting shoved out by piston. |

Possibly, bought from some youth, did not seem to care who reground it. Would make sense. They claimed it was somebody with a rep.

It's pretty common for the exh side to have more lift AND duration. With this goofy flowing AC head though, I've talked with several guys a lot smarter than me about having one ground to favor the intake side, since head flows really good on exh side.

Thanks Ed, since I filled my head with grout I actually got the intake to flow much more then ex. Still might replace cam down the road, they are always learning.

My head has been worked over by Bob Himes, and it flows pretty good for what it is, but intake still not as good as my competitors likely are lol!

One of my pet peeves is Allis NEVER changed the profile of their cams - they did change a 'quietening curve' on later engines but the specs as to lift , duration and degrees did not.
Surely from naturally aspirated engines of the 60's to the turbo'd 4.33 - 7020 or 8070 they could have made a difference in efficiency and performance. How many cams are available for a 350 Chevy, Chrysler or Ford ? Rumor was that when they changed the cam on the D262 on the D19 - kept the intake open longer - it would not start so they had to change them out (first ones) . The lesson was to engineering - leave it alone. Bad lesson.

I had one of my cams reground by Colt Cams and he did not like the stock profile, forget the exact complaints, been awhile and they were numerous. I was told the quieting part of the engine was done with the Bosch injectors on the 8000 series. Rumor?? That and they lowered compression where in my book you should get a different cam. You are right, Ford offered several cams right from the factory for their engines, RV, police, truck, high performance.
