Sadly is NOT limited to Deere or CIHNH or any other major manufacturer. ALL the majors bought into CAN Bus electronics, initially for speed of functions and adaptive numbers of functions but also REQUIRES Programs in Computers and Special Adaptor harness with MOUNDS of Tech Manuals to diagnose and to access any of those functions to repair. RTR is fine except it now costs the Owners $Thousands$ in base tech instrumentation, More $Thousands$ in ever changing Program values and 'Updated' Software annually if not Semi Annually. Dealer mechanic I speak with regularly noted he was REQUIRED to purchase his Own Diagnostics equipment, Dealer would NOT supply as too many techs and cost prohibitive, However?, WOULD sell them the Data Line Programs at a reduced rate. Updates are MONTHLY and auto deducted from payroll. He quit that dealer and has since left the Auto Mechanic world. The shop I Drive out of HAD to purchase a New HDT Laptop and programming, Has to have $$$$ updates semi annually to read the machines they are receiving, MORE $$$$$.
Only way it CAN or WILL stop is to cease buying the Schitt, yet that is where it gets worse, designed obsolescence and end of production as to parts to repair Old Schitt.
