    Posted: 17 Aug 2024 at 3:55pm
Long story made shorter , picked up a rode hard and put away wet 170 gas S/N 5560 for a song and a dance. Thinking I'd have a bucket tractor for short money ...as if .. 3 point and bucket works well and engine runs well with very even compression. Tractor wouldn't steer much at all  when I bought it thinking how bad could it be . My untrained eye says  (just guessing) that pin fell out of the end of the piston rod and took a trip thought the steering box
but maybe not ?!    front bolster or pedestal  has a crack in it where the idler gear shaft rides, end of piston rod is toast, and roll pin broke in the  steering arm fell down and took out  some teeth. What was left of the piston rod pin fell out when I dropped the cover in the bone dry steering box

Parts I am looking for
249004  front bolster  might also be 70255406
250050 steering shaft
249475 steering piston rod ... or whole piston assy 249374
231495 rod pin
seal kit 70255707

shipping to 03281 wife has a paypal
I know I am going to get burned on the shipping on the bolster which is probably
a freight item  but let me know if you have any or all of these items; a whole front end would be even better.

been keeping an eye out for another parts tractor but for whatever reason 170's are hard to come by in my area then again so are farms at this point

I think a D17 series 4 is the same.

Most of the D-17 parts are different. Look up the pn's and see for yourself.

Yea the D17 has a steering shaft too. I guess that makes everything different.
