Saw where a Arizona politician got stopped for speeding. She claimed she was about out of power and hurrying home to charge. Don't you use more power the faster you drive? Thanks

It would drain the batteries faster by harder pull at higher speeds just like a gas motor ---- not sure you can coast once they go dead.

yes, use more power...there's is a 'sweet speed' for best MPG or MPE which isprincipally based on wide resistance. some EVs can recharge during braking or slowing down or coasting down a steep hill... side note... Ford Canada, stop gas vehilcle production in Oakville to retool for EVs only, paying workers 70% to sit on their duffs...NOW Ford's re-retooling for F250/350 series powered by, wait a minute, drum roll please.......GAS and DIESEL engines !!! I'm guessing EVs are no longer a good green thing !!!???

At least some are figuring out First need FAR MORE Lithium Ion Cells than are currently being produced, then NEED a Recycling System, Add To That PRODUCTION Companies are Now EXPECTED to fund the construct of Charging Stations to utilize for these, and Lastly, There is NO LONGER Enough Megawatts being produced USA ESPECIALLY from (NOT) Renewables the Left keeps throwing down as the All Powered Messiah for this.

Politician... you expect them to actually know anything about physics? Especially energy? The only ONE part that DOES factor: IF they're running the Air Conditioning, then YES... the AC is a constant (and very significant) auxiliary load. The wiser move, would be to shut the AC off. When it's cold, the same housekeeping load is just burning battery charge to heat the cabin.

These machines have Coolers and heaters just for the Batteries, they cannot be Too Cold or Too Warm. METRO Bus in STL currently has 12 Battery Buses, ALL are shut down as the Battery Cooling systems leaks cannot be fixed, Been shut down for near to a Year. The buses Flex too much on the rough streets and the cooling systems crack or pull flex connections apart. Battery HVAC on those used 1/3 of the charge in 8 hours run time. Tesla, Rivian, ALL these Full Electric Li battery sets have these systems Eating Power. Under the Hoods of these is a 12v conventional Battery, that operates the Lights and Door locks/latches and Windows/accessories.

I have an electric car question, been bugging me. In cold weather the range goes down, so they say, even if you don't use the heater. Where does the energy evaporate to? Also, you charge the car to 100% (300miles range est) in the warm garage. Then back it out and let it cold soak, yikes, it now says 250 miles. Now put it back in the warm garage, and let it completely warm back up. What will the range estimate say? Suppose the weather changed and it is like spring, warm, do we get our 300 miles range back (with existing charge)?

Batteries are like humans, they only operate efficiently within a very narrow temperature range. This is very well docunented though most in the public don't see the 'specs'. A little too cold or a little hot, and they 'lose' capacity, real cold or real hot, the lose a LOT ! If it's too cold, those EV roadside chargers will NOT recharge car batteries. THAT is well known ! My brother test drove a Ford hybrid to FLA one late fall. Started on battery power, then mysteriously engine came on, then off, then on again.... first came on in the cold mountains, off in the warm south, then off in HOT FLA. Nature of the beasts. All car battery 'packs' have heaters in them which technically increases the range. It'd be far less without them. Some have cooling circuits as well. The loss of capacity isn't just a lithium ion battery problem, all batteries have their 'sweet spot' for operating, even the lowly lead acid battery. I bet everyone has gone out to their cold car and heard...grr,grr, gr, gr, clunk at least once in their lifetime. Recharge the battery (now nice and warm) then gr,vrooom ! Everyone who installs an engine 'block heater' should ALSO install a battery blanket. The heater gets the oil warm so the engine CAN spin over, the blanket gives the battery the ability TO supply the power needed for the spin to occour. This 'cold weather' problem is also seen by trades who work in winter with battery powered tools. Too cold (not really THAT cold...) and charger will NOT recharge the batteries. BTW EV chargers do not charge to 100%, and you can't 'run them down to 0' though early Tesla you could ! Made it 'challenging to get INTO a locked Tesla, as you can't open trunk to get the charge cable cause, well, the car's all locked up !!!idiot engineers..wonder if they fixed THAT minor problem ??

$50,000 lost
On every EV Ford sold this year. Their EV division has lost $2.5 billion so far in 2024, and they’re not alone; U.S. automakers are losing an average of $6,000 for every EV sold.
Have you ever noticed how most Ford models’ names are more fun when you put "anal" in front of them? Think Probe, Explorer, Excursion, Endeavor, Ranger and Focus. (True, right?)

Tell Biden or Klammy to put a Tesla Coil on every corner so you can recharge by using Telepathy and take the charge yourself then transferring it to the car battery. Might look a bit weird on every corner there rubbing your hands all over a steel ball with lightening going all around it in all directions and your hair standing on end but hey it's for your Comrades and the Motherland. The Central Committee will be very pleased as will Comrad Chairman..
