Oil cooler on my 7040 needs re-sealed, can the inner tubes be tapped out with a block of wood without damaging them, I don't have a press. First time messing with one of these, thanks.

Yes. We always had a 4 x 4 block re-shaped to slide in and be the pusher against the cooler core.

O rings and gaskets. Not much involved here. The cooler o rings are specific as to water side or oil side of the cooler.

I done this on my 7060 few years back. a search of my stuff might bring it up
I think the main thing is to put the o-rings in the right place

the block and cooler mating  surface must be squeaky clean with a non silicone gasket sealer. That is the biggest challenge we have had. 
When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..

Assemble everything loosely, and don't tighten any bolts until it's all together on the engine. Then tighten them down a little at a time, working your way around from gasket to gasket.

Is it better to glue the gasket to the engine block or the cooler, on reassembly? Thanks

Thanks Steve, that's what I was leaning towards,Tbran mentioned having difficulty with this seal leaking, I didn't know if one was better than the other

I figured it may be harder to seal the slick aluminum over the cast iron block so I put the sealer there.
