The guys who do the J and L videos on YouTube featured a D17 that’s believed to be the earliest serial number still surviving, a gas tractor, D17-1116.
I’m curious to find the earliest diesel D17 out there, not sure what the first serial number diesel was. Mine is D17-2018D, so pretty early… |

It would be neat to know where the first and the last numbered ones from each series.

Hope I don't derail your thread.........worked many hours when growing up on our D17 Series I Gas (1957 - 2662) purchased new by my Father; tractor now retired on the Family farm. I own a D17 Series IV Gas (1965 - 77420). Both tractors a pleasure to operate I am sure most readers are well aware of the changes/improvements to the D17 over the years, as the base design stood the test of time, eventually morphing design features into the 100 Series tractors Although not the first or last, close enough to help me appreciate the quality of the D17 over the years In my opinion, one of the best tractors ever produced!

Very nice Don! Red Power magazine keeps a list of highest and lowest serial numbers for all models. They publish the list once or twice a year. I always find it interesting to see how many of those guys I know. Not lots but I do know a few on that list. One of my plow-day buddies has an 826 gas hydro on there, don't remember if it's high or low? Pretty sure there were less than 100 of them built so could be either. There is also a gentleman East of here that has several, guessing 8-10 at least! If he ever has an auction it will be a humdinger! I wonder if Old Allis News has ever pondered something like this?
