Saturday was the annual capoot pickin' and plowin' day at Collins Ia.

Good friend of mine that helps me around here more than I could ever repay him for was interested so he went along. He's kind of a city kid but really seems to like these old tractors/equipment. Long story short, we split time on the 45. I rode on the plow while trying to get him up to speed on things, he caught. on quick, only had to ride one round. It was pulling REALLY hard, not unusual there but worse than normal. Raised the plow up some, later checked, still 8&1/2" deep, raised it up some more! Only took two pictures there this year, beautifully restored Super 77 Oliver with 4340 plow.

Sunday I was invited to a private plow day South of me a ways. Took more pictures here and some of you guys probably know the owner. I didn't take a tractor as Mike has plenty for the eight or so acres we plowed! Had never plowed with a CA, took a couple of rounds with it. Spent about 70 percent of the day on the 17. Then ran the 185 with what I think is an 84 pull plow, really nice, fun rig.

So without further ado here's some pictures. The one in the shed is just some of his girls that didn't get to come out and play.

We were supposed to plow last weekend at Mingo. Rain and cold weather pushed that back a week. 45 is on the trailer ready to head out! Did plow the garden yesterday, managed to get the 73 11" deep! Had I taken time to raise the coulters, might have gotten a foot! Downside, now I've got a really deep dead furrow. Maybe next year I'll raise it back up for the last pass.
