After combining 1 hopper and a bit on the second, the pickup slows down to a stop.

Touched the drive motor and the reservoir and they are both hot!

What could be the problem/solution?

My first thought is the variable speed has slowed it to a stop, is it hooked up and working?

They seem to run hot under normal conditions on mine

Variable speed control is working and the oil level is good. I had just changed the pickup belts prior to starting and checked the pickup bearings which are good.

I'm going to change the drive motor this morning.

Of course its always the holiday weekend when these things happen...Maybe tomorrow a new filter too.
