I would guess front plate is loose. Check bolts in front cover. If they are loose, might as well pull front end and do the dreaded job. MACK

Mack that job ain’t for me! Do I need headless 5/16 studs on the 4 corners to line it up? Is the O ring behind the back plate of oil pan? Did the XT so long ago I forget details? Thanks

Now that I see what’s involved to r&r oil pan on a 7000 it’s more than I want to tackle. I did my XT when I replaced liner and piston and don’t remember any issues like removing the front end! Geez.

Don't know about a 7000 but on 8000 you remove steering ram from axle to drop pan. no need to remove the front end.

Yea I found prev owner stripped out a pan bolt in front of pan. I removed steering ram and helicoiled it. Then I spent 40 minutes trying to get pin back in ram pivot. Got fed up working upside down and installed new batt and decals on the 14. I’ll get an extra hand to finish up that ram and then run her to see what I have accomplished. Still haven’t been fishing! Students want to fly, some need ground school, and jet trips are mounting. Still have the 7040:radiator to remove Ughhh….

BTW found the prev owner had welded up both front corners of oil pan.

Corners of pan get broke because front plate get loose from dowel pins getting loose from loaders front blades, sprayer tanks, crossing terrises, and ditches. MACK

If it has the HD front end, then no need to remove the whole front end. But I believe the standard rear end requires the front end to come off. It does sound like your front plate is loose. If you clean it up, I would almost bet you'll find the oil is originating around the joint between the block and the plate and the oil pan. Mine did the same thing once, I was not as smart then and didn't replace the dowel pins nor get the plate built up and re-drilled for the dowel holes. So... now it's on my list of things to do again.
