My 1960 D-14 tractor with a Superior Mfg. (Chicago) Loader has the original 2 handle control valve, with lift and tilt. The system works off the front mounted pump and the tilt circuit has had a slow leak down for while now. System is full and clean. Cylinders are not the culprit.. it is the valve/tilt circuit. REPAIR OR REPLACE? Is it likely seals or usually worse?
Although fairly competent to wrench on all my old tractors and equipment, I am COMPLETELY without experience on control valve/hydraulics. REPAIR OR REPLACE? I see several basic 2 handle control valves offered for a few hundred dollars , although I would have to sort out what I need. Are they plug and play or require setup and flow gauge type pressure measuring tools etc? I sure don't want to take the tractor out of service for a long time while and try to learn how to "fix" the valve unless it is fairly simple. My guess is a repair done professionally (if even possible on a 1960 setup) will cost about the same as a new control valve but I have no idea? Looking for some basic insight experience . Thanks
